Sometimes you are just scrolling through Twitter and everything seems so dull and repetitive. Another post about politics, news, sports, so-on, and so-on. But then you come across that tweet that gets your attention. You feel the strong need to click it, maybe even retweet it, and possibly even… *gasp* comment.
Since I began using Twitter about a year ago, I have been following more brands and people that I enjoy and have found some that impress me and do something compelling with their posts. These are my top 5 Twitter accounts that I follow that are the most engaging and delightful to follow!
Geocaching
This account does not get a lot of retweets and comments due to the niche activity that it is focused on, however it creates unique posts that spark community discussion and interest. A great example is this post that shows a unique geocache and asks the community what their favorite type is. This format is perfect for displaying the creativity of what the brand is representing and opening the door for community discussion.
Andrew Reiner
This gentleman is the Editor-in-Chief of the gaming magazine Game Informer. He has been playing and writing about games for a long time and uses his social media presence to foster unique and engaging conversations with gamers online. When the topic hits, it gains a lot of traction within the gaming community. Take this post asking his followers about a game that is well loved but they could not get into.
Morning Brew
This business and economic news provider is described as the “millennial newsletter”. So, it only makes sense that just about every post on the company’s Twitter feed would contain memes, gifs, or other attention grabbers. This post about Amazon’s new app logo is a perfect example of how the Twitter account puts the spotlight on interesting and humorous updates in the business world.
Jimmy Fallon
This late-night host mainly shares clips and highlights from his show but will occasionally Quote Tweet interesting events and news stories. What is most interesting to me, is that he uses his large following to create audience interactivity that is then incorporated into his show. This post asking Twitter users to explain their weirdest or funniest invention shows how soliciting audience interaction can drive up engagement.
Xbox Gamepass
The Microsoft owned Netflix-style service for games has a very goofy and lighthearted tone on its Twitter page including in the comments. The profile will often share gifs regarding the games that get added to the service to promote as well as entertain. A great example is this post about the fighting game starring DC characters, Injustice 2, where you are supposed to pause the gif to select who you will play as.
As I use Twitter more, I hope to find even more engaging and creative accounts! Comment below with Twitter accounts that engage you!
